Foley, New York

One of our favourite areas to hang out in New York has to be the lower east side.  A lot less fussy than the Meatpacking but not as polished as 5th Avenue, this is possibly the cooler part of town.  We came across the Foley Gallery here and their incredible sculptural paper installation.  We didnt know anything about this although we have discovered that this was produced by Mia Pearlman.  Just check out her site here http://miapearlman.com  We thought that we would include it as it was quite a spectacle to view.

Marc Jacobs, New York

We always make a bee line for this Marc Jacobs store as they always have such fun installations.  Previously we have seen these windows covered in Polaroids of people with a Santa Claus and this year we have the Marc Jacobs Galactic Industries Communications Operating systems where just in case you couldn't make it back for Christmas you could have your photograph taken here to send to your home planet.  Perfect fun and a great form of experiential interaction.

What Will You Feel?, New York

Around the Meatpacking district we recently came across the first store that sells feelings.  How cool is this....!  We were a little hesitant before entering here as it wasn't quite clear what was going on inside.  It was also the end of the working day and it looked like a private event.  As bolshie as ever we entered anyway and thank goodness we did.  What an amazing experience.  We were greeted by the nicest people and asked to enter our email addresses into their system and explore a wide variety of textures in a beautifully organised seated area.  Further on and a range of  fragrances (below) oozed from a curved walled area.  We were still unclear what this was all about until we ventured further along the corridor and to a series of rooms.  Each room contains a different experience from a Winter landscape, a dressing up room and a virtual reality experience.  In each one we could have a photograph taken which was emailed to us within minutes.  Hilarious fun.  And, the product, Glade air fresheners.  This is such an interesting space and such a brilliant way to show an existing product in such an experiential way.

Tods, New York

As ever so beautifully produced, the scheme at Tods looks fantastic.  Perfectly made draws artfully opened in which are placed the product.  The mirrored walls either side create an infinity look which widen the space dramatically.

Melissa, New York

We happened upon this store recently and were rather blown away.  'Inspired by the unconventional decadence of Melissa's candy colour', Galeria Melissa has been transformed 'into a burst of sculptural works, harmonising their collections around the store.  Each art work, which includes George Kroenaet's Big Bang theory (above), Sam Tufnell's Power Gnomes, Sean Augustine March's hand cut glass sculptures, Kirsten Kay Thoen's Crystalline Pendulum and Tapp Franke's neon sign look absolutely spectacular.

Comme Des Garcons, New York

We actually came here as we had heard that a Tiffany pop-up train had literally popped up across the street in one of the galleries on the West side of New York.  Sadly it had already popped up and popped off before we had the chance to capture it for us to share with you.  However, we did come across purely by chance the Comme Des Garcons store in what appeared to be an old warehouse. Perfect for this brand.  We have heard that this is now one of their permanent stores but we cant verify this for sure.  We weren't allowed to take photos in here which was disappointing and the staff are eagle eyed so no chance of even a cheeky snap.  The security here are however extremely nice and very helpful and you will probably find images of the interior online somewhere anyway.

Belstaff, London

Inspired by Belstaff's motorcycling Heritage, the latest installation which has gone across the major Visual merchandising cities of the world looks quite spectacular.  Featuring the brands Phoenix at the centre of the structure, the mechanical installation brings together Belstaff's rugged signature tones with automotive parts to create an abstracted snowflake.  The backdrops either side of the structure are blueprints from the construction plans.  If you are in London or with us here in New York right now then do go and check out the store.  If you are in neither then have a look at their amazing video by clicking on the link here http://vimeo.com/114866785

Roberto Cavalli, New York

There is a certain sort of vulgarity that some luxury brands appear to project from their windows although we are getting to the point where we actually quite like it.  OK there is no significant innovation here but we do actually like the references to exotica with the large Golden leaves.  Apart from that there isn't much else here but then if you are Cavalli we guess there is no need to push for sales?

Aishti, Middle East

Who knew that the middle East was looking so fantastic?  Those clever guys at Arte Vetrina Project have yet again brought enormous creativity to this brand with their LED flex Neon lighting and images from Sagmeister and Walsh.  If you happen to be passing the stores do go and take a close look.

Scheltema, Amsterdam

We are always pleased to receive images and information about Visual Merchandising schemes around the world and it really is great to see that Amsterdam is looking so good.  Those of you who live in Amsterdam or frequent visitors will no doubt know the Scheltema book store.  The team at Beekwilder have woven their magic over this store during the festive period and included colourful presents, Christmas greenery and beautiful lighting on  the exterior which leads into the shaky tower which consists of 4000 spinning baubles and a mountain of coloured boxes within the interior space. Just check out their Youtube video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_9EoBffHgI&list=UUARE5XJ4jyu1gGkYtSQetiQ

Bottega Veneta, New York

We often miss the windows at this brand on our late night walks around London as the security around their product is ferociously tight, however here in New York its here in all its glory.  Large format graphic fills this enormous space with a line of US domestic post boxes in which are contained their products.  Imagine finding one of these in your mail box..!!

DZD, London

Over the past few weeks we have shown you some of the best Christmas schemes in the world.  We also know that you often wonder where some of these retailers buy their props to make their schemes look so amazing as we often receive emails for readers asking us where they can buy exciting bits all year round.  From special occasions to grand events and a design service where your ideas can be realised from concept to completion.  Look no further than DZD here in London.  The shimmery textured garlands entwined with antique baubles at East, snow covered bejeweled Christmas trees at Fortnum and Mason to the fantastic coloured pine cones, acorns and foil spirals at Harvey Nichols.  If you need them then DZD will find them.  Go and check out these guys at http://www.dzd.co.uk

Emilio Pucci, New York

Stacks of coloured boxes with what we image are references to all of the sites where Pucci have stores are contained within this scheme at their store along Madison avenue.  Gorgeous colours although maybe not really that exciting given the brand and the fantastic work they do?  The boxes of course are placed in a pyramidal format as per the usual product handling dynamic.

Lanvin, New York

Further up Madison in between Hermes and the Ralph Lauren Mansion are the Lanvin stores. Menswear and womenswear are separated here into their own sites but both stores look incredible.  We adored the use of the neon lighting used here to highlight the shape of the mannequin / product and draw the eye of the viewer into and around the space.
