Urban Outfitters, London

As cost effective schemes go Urban Outfitters really do get it so right.  With the use of large boards, clips and large format graphics, they really do put the Urban in the Urban Outfitters brand name.  Ever so inexpensive and yet works so very well.

Bally, London

We have to admit it, we are struggling to find Bally in any way exciting at the moment.  Gawd, how dull is this scheme?  We have repetition of the cylinders, a mannequin and, well a cactus.  Revolutionary stuff, this.  C''mon guys, cheer.  Please can someone inject a bit of excitement into these schemes?

Tods, London

A bit of symmetry, a bit of texture and of course great products.  Apart from that we are struggling to find anything very exciting about this scheme at Tods right now and therefore nothing much else to say about it.

Chanel, London

A bit of acrylic is always useful in schemes although does this one look unfinished?  We have been back a few times and it appears that this is it.  This is what we are given. Thats it.  Slight references to 'Memphis' perhaps and in 'life' the colours of the props do look superb although perhaps not next to the product itself which appears rather dour by comparison?

Banana Republic, London

Banana has been looking really, really interesting recently.  Even in Sale time their windows looked as if someone was taking care with their schemes.  This is appreciated.  We recently showed their nod to recycling / eco scheme which was particularly great to view as so many global brands appear to adopt a one scheme for all approach while ignoring that Glocalism is critically important right now and as savvy shoppers we want something which taps into our own local vibe rather than one which was the most cost effective to send out to all stores regardless.

Etro, London

Without seeing this installation in the 'flesh' it is quite difficult to appreciate what happens here.  If you are in town then do stand in front of this window and focus on the moving perspective, it really is quite a disorientating experience in the most pleasurable way and of course all produced beautifully.

Barthelmess, Vision, Barcelona, 2015

Barthelmess hosted their international annual future congress, Vision, in Barcelona recently.  Successful trade concepts, challenges of the future, perspectives and innovation were the key themes this year with guest speakers including freelance consultant Gerald Grare, consultant Dr. Christian Mikunda and innovation expert Stephen Jung.  At the end of the few days, participants were taken on a tour of Barcelona in order to apply their new found knowledge and evaluate new store concepts across the city.  It really is fantastic to see a company such as Barthelmess leading the way in future thinking within retail and Visual Merchandising and making such an enormous contribution across the industries. Check out their website here too to see what they can offer you.  http://www.barthelmessuk.com/

Tiffany, London

Gorgeous cut-outs and beautifully presented as always, it can only be Tiffany.  We are always rather amazed at the ingenuity of this brand and their concepts.  As always we are looking for something to amuse and entertain us although a little sophistication and perfection is always worth viewing too of course.  Tiny narratives which pull together the strands of this brands core values fill the windows at this luxury brand right now.

Ralph Lauren, London

Rocking AW15 tones, Ralph Lauren looks particularly elegant right now.  This brand don't tend to go down the graphic look but the suspended printed drawings look particularly delicate and an interesting change to  their usual lavish window schemes.

Anthropologie, London

'Capturing the rhythm and movement of the wind through sand and the natural rise and fall of sand dunes as the wind erodes and sweeps through the landscape in an endless and and ever changing cause and effect' this kinetic installation by the visual team at Anthropologie looks very striking.  We always look at these things late at night so they always tend to be switched off, however if you are around town between 8.00am - 9.00pm then do check it out in all its movement glory.

Lanvin, London

We haven't seen the use of the concept of swimming pools since the days of Dickens & Jones and latterly of course Hermes Rive Gauche opened in the old 1935 baths in Paris a few years ago.  This is one of the better schemes we've seen here in London from this brand although of course they do execute some phenomenal ones elsewhere.

Dover Street Market, London

If you want to begin shopping for your Winter wardrobe then fortunately, DSM have just launched their AW15 collections at their store here in the centre of it all.  With a fantastic installation of an Artists studio by the designer Molly Goddard in conjunction with her latest collection this does remind us of the recreation of Francis Bacon's studio, the entire contents of which we transported from London to Dublin in 1998.

Rubaiyat Department Store, Saudi Arabia

Images Courtesy and Copyright Propstudios

We have never been to or received images from stores in Saudi Arabia previously so it really is a pleasure to receive some of the latest scheme at the Rubaiyat Department store.  We aren't familiar with this store however their latest installation looks quite spectacular and rather a pleasant surprise.  UK based Propstudios was commissioned by Al Rabaiyat to design and manufacture a series of large props for what look like enormous window spaces.  The theme of the installation is Luxury and includeds opulent chandeliers with smoked glass perfume bottles and crystal droplets, a giant gramophone with silk flowers cascading from the horn and a giant perfume bottle, to name but a few.  How good is to see such quality Visual Merchandising happening around the world beyond the usual London and New York.

John Varvatos, London

We do love the kind of aesthetic which this brand projects, i.e. a kind of monochromatic urban landscape which is sort of similar to All Saints really although probably three times as expensive.  Still, in its simplicity the brand in its UK format appears to be finding its 'feet' and tapping into the London vibe a little more coherently.  We love the product here and its great to see it on our high street although we do need to keep a Glocal perspective as one size really doesn't fit most and not everything translates from one culture to the next, even if we do, sort of, speak the same language.  So far so good however.

Selfridges, London

We have recently shown you a great initiative by G-Star in conjunction with Pharrell Williams helping to eliminate the use of waste plastic in the oceans around us.  Selfridges #ProjectOcean is a welcomed addition to this to help build a momentum in this thinking.  Selfridges have removed all single-use plastic water bottles from their stores to help protect the oceans from plastic pollution.  A great initiative indeed and a great window installation too.

Liberty, London

The new opulence is rocking Liberty right now.  We have noticed that this brand have such a great archive of their windows on-line which is a real gem of a find.  However, the information isn't always right up to date (unlike Selfridges) so we don't have the full information on this scheme.  A bit of disco fringing is always fun though of course.
